OBJECTIVE: ERTL (Epreuves de Repérage de Troubles de Langage) tests have been designed as a screening test to detect rapidly language disorders. To evaluate the effectiveness of these tests, we have compared them to the form P (NEEL-P) tests for the examination of language in 6 children with a 22q11 microdeletion. MATERIALS AND METHOD: 6 children aged from 4 years and 4 months to 5 years and 4 months, 4 boys and 2 girls have been tested. These tests have been performed in two sessions lasting between 1 and 1 1/2 hour. RESULTS: They are consistent in both tests. ERTL has identified all the children with a disorder. CONCLUSION: These fast tests should be used more often to detect children requiring additional and more complex language and neuropsychological evaluations
Layer-by-Layer synthesis and tunable optical properties of hybrid magneticâplasmonic nanocomposites using short bifunctional molecular linkers
Spurred by research in magnetoplasmonics, plasmon-enhanced magneto-optical effects and active plasmonics, the demand for hybrid magneticâplasmonic nanoparticle-based materials of optical quality is high. Currently used synthesis methods involve possibly interfering polymer media or polyelectrolyte interlayers, grooved supports or non-transparent substrates. To obtain homogeneous, partially transparent and polymer/polyelectrolyte-free magneticâplasmonic nanocomposites with angle-independent optical properties, we produced hybrid goldâmagnetite and silverâmagnetite nanocomposites by a novel Layer- by-Layer synthesis using short bifunctional molecular linkers on glass substrates. Resulting nanocomposites had high nanoparticle filling fractions and showed tunability of the plasmon wavelength over a very broad spectral range by changing composite thickness through the number of added nanoparticle layers. The angle- independence of optical properties and the abilities to switch the plasmonic material and to tune the plasmon resonances of the magneticâplasmonic composites make these materials a unique platform for magnetoplasmonic research.publisher: Elsevier

Protected areas in the Atlantic facing the hazards of micro-plastic pollution: First diagnosis of three islands in the Canary Current.
International audience: Coastal zones and the biosphere as a whole show signs of cumulative degradation due to the use and disposal of plastics. To better understand the manifestation of plastic pollution in the Atlantic Ocean, we partnered with local communities to determine the concentrations of micro-plastics in 125 beaches on three islands in the Canary Current: Lanzarote, La Graciosa, and Fuerteventura. We found that, in spite of being located in highly-protected natural areas, all beaches in our study area are exceedingly vulnerable to micro-plastic pollution, with pollution levels reaching concentrations greater than 100g of plastic in 1l of sediment. This paper contributes to ongoing efforts to develop solutions to plastic pollution by addressing the questions: (i) Where does this pollution come from?; (ii) How much plastic pollution is in the world's oceans and coastal zones?; (iii) What are the consequences for the biosphere?; and (iv) What are possible solutions
Protected Shores Contamined with Plastic from Knowledge to Action
International audienceAs the rate of plastic production increases globally, we see the problem of plastic debris in oceans and coastal zones also increasing, even in areas under rigorous environmental protection. Drawing from a case study situated within the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve of Lanzarote in the Canary Islands, this chapter shares the example of an ongoing, collaborative partnership between community members, researchers, and decision makers, working together to confront the problem of plastic pollution locally. Since plastic debris is a complex global issue, it cannot be resolved at the local level alone. Here we also introduce a burgeoning regional working group, Communities-Based Observatories Tackling Marine Litter (COASTAL). The goal of COASTAL is to coordinate community-based efforts underway to address plastic pollution at various sites within the larger North AtlanticâMediterranean system, and thereby expand our understanding of the plastic debris problem, and its potential solutions, at regional and local scales
